Too cheap and fun to not share:

I also got the message from the seller that he got too many orders and has not enough Money.
Funny Thing is that he already had set the Status to “shipped”.
I offered him to extend the Deadline.
Now the order is also frozen with the already mentioned reason.
I guess some People complained about this message the Seeler sent out.

Yep, got the frozen email too. Got a “posted” notice before that, but no tracking ID yet. No early commit payment request though.

I’m not worried either, and don’t think anyone should be concerned either. We may have our cash locked away at Ali until the guy fails to deliver (if he can’t buy more at an appropriate price) and Ali refund us, but otherwise I’d expect them to turn up eventually.

A little?

Sounds a lot suspicious to me…offer an item so cheap it’s hard to believe, then cry for help when “too many orders” come in? Again, maybe I’m too untrusting of Ali in general, but that raises major red flags for me. Thing is, once you’ve “confirmed” receipt, you have no recourse at all…the seller gets your money, and if you don’t get your drone, Ali will simply tell you too bad, you’re on record as having confirmed receipt. And it’s a small enough amount of money that most people won’t bother fighting it. Classic scam tactic, which I’m guessing is why Ali is freezing the orders.

No need to apologize, though. Folks can make their own decisions as to whether they want to risk their money ordering.

Only reason to be worried is if you actually confirm delivery without the item(s) being delivered. In which case, you should plan to be out of both cash and the item.

Got the “frozen” notice as well.

Well, yeah. I’ve bought probably 200 things on Aliexpress, and I like them some much I no longer buy stuff on DX.com, my former source for such things. I have about 10 “extra long” ties from “shlaxwing” that I love so much I check his store every few days. The only place that has ties long enough for me (63") and they are awesome quality. I’m pretty sure the $5 ties I buy from him are the same as the $50 ties I see elsewhere. I see lots of stuff in stores here in New Zealand…pc/electronic stores, autopart stores, that are the same items… just marked up by the middleman.

I’ve had lengthy conversations with probably 10-15 sellers, had some issues, had the issues resolved. Needed some refunds, and received them. Ive never had to return anything. For the most part I’ve been completely satisfied. There was a single issue with a bike headlight that had an image describing the two included batteries, and small print later that said batteries not included, that annoyed me, but that was minor. As far as “so cheap it is hard to believe” I’ve gotten several things at amazing prices like this. For example, I was looking for a RC speed boat for my son… The FT009, and most places sold it for $80-$150, but I managed to find one guy liquidating stock and selling for $30, so I bought two. They’ve been awesome. My wife just bought all the decorations for my stepson’s wedding via aliexpress, and what she had planned to spend $1000 on ended up costing about $180. There are a lot of merchants in china, and many different situations. I have no doubt that the =cost= to make this thing is probably even [em]less[/em] than $4.70.

Yes, you have to be very diligent in reading descriptions, and you quickly learn about things like mAh for individual batteries/packs and mW for lasers are often going to be inaccurate (like this 10,000 mW laser for $9, lol: (http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Promotion-90-off-High-quality-Green-Laser-5000mw-High-power-laser-303-Lazer-Laser-Pointer-presenter/32293789236.html) , but I don’t feel any more risk for aliexpress than I do for amazon, now. I trust aliexpress sellers more than ebay (and way more than trademe)

Yeah. I wouldn’t do that, for just those reasons. But this particular shop is a big one, with a huge inventory, and have been around awhile. This would be a little too much work, I think, for a scam, unless they were doing this with -many- other products and had decided to just do one big scam/grab before going out of business. I don’t think that is the case. I think that the drones will turn up eventually

Ooh!

I just got a “Left country of origin” and “in Transit to New Zealand” notification for the tracking # for my order of 10 quads. From the new zealand post tracking system.

So, at the very least, they physically shipped -something- that is now in transit! New Zealand doesn’t get any info until it is physically out of the sending country, and in transit.

When I click on the tracking link from “China Post Air Mail Website” all I get is a couple of chinese characters on a blank White page.

@ Reinhard Ostermeier - Try

@ Architect - That worked. According to that my shipment left Guangzhou-Terminal on January 3rd.

I have a tracking number but no tracking available yet.

I also logged in to check my order and I too have the message from the seller about the lack of money for shipping and asking to confirm receipt. Even if he is genuine I would be a little suspicious of this type of activity.

My order is frozen as well with the request for pre payment. I’m happy to just let this sit, he know he has a small pile of money waiting there and so he’ll be motivated to make it happen, and Chinese vendors can be very ‘motivated’. I would imagine his supplier is putting a squeeze on him as they know he is somewhat exposed on this deal. If it happens great, if it doesn’t then its not a big deal either. I suspect that once he gets payment for the orders he was able to ship, he’ll ship more.

Just to demonstrate where my head is… It took me a minute to figure out you weren’t talking about zip ties…

@ mtylerjr - What is the URL for shlaxwing shop? Can’t seem to find it on AE and I need some long (non-zip ;)) ties as well.

(I like paisley silk ties, lol. I also like that you can get the matching squares/hankerchiefs with them. I’m 6’3, but I’m also fat, and naturally have a long torso for my height, so I like the extra long ones, so I dont have to end up using double sided tape to hold the inner part of the tie to the back)

@ mtylerjr - Thanks for the links.

hold the inner part of the tie to the back)

I always have to stuff it into my shirt so it stays in place. Longer ties will be better.

Oh and to stay on topic, These work better with when used with an IC board. 8)

I highly doubt it as like 99% of the stuff on that site, its likely a cheap clone, or clone of a clone, or clone of a clone of clone etc (and the clones could be so blatant it was incredible). I was looking to get some cheap servos for my classes, but what a nightmare and that was a common theme in most of the reviews, but really how good does something have to be that is sold/valued so cheap, so its worth the risk. These at the price seemed to be worth the risk so thanks for letting me know, we’ll see how it plays out.

I think when it is about ties all of them are clones.

Wow… unexpectedly fast. (I ordered on Dec 31.)

They should clear Auckland customs tomorrow, and then be delivered on Monday or Tuesday
