Just got email from AE that my order is closed and will be refunded.
Just got the same even though I have a tracking number.
Likewise.
That’s lame. Sorry guys.
I’ll let you know what turns up anyway
Same here, but something is underway.
I’m curious what will arrive, and if I hear from the seller again.
Not sure if he can contact me now that the order is closed.
If I check the tracking on the China Post website it shows as heading to the correct country and left Guangzhou.
I also got an email from Aliexpress that the item was cancelled and I would get a refund.
If it does indeed turn up, I feel kinda bad for the seller as I won’t be able to pay for them. Will wait and see what turns up but it could be that his request based on lack of costs to cover all the orders was genuine but then again, he should have responded to Aliexpress on time with his valid concerns and reasons.
Mine were delivered today (to my office, on saturday) so I wont be able to get them until Monday.
Ugh.
NZPost says they were delivered on Saturday, and signed by someone named “chris watson” yet there is no one name “chris watson” at my company, and they werent open on saturday. No one in shipping has any idea. i’m having to open a case with NZPost.
Weirder and weirder.
Maybe it is a scam and they send an empty parcel to your country but to a different address, just so it gets marked as “delivered”… I hope that’s not the case. If anyone else gets theirs, let us know.
@ mtylerjr - that doesn’t sound good, let us know how that turns out.
I see I have a China Post tracking number and last status was ‘Guangzhou, shipment’ on Jan 5th but Canada Post has no record of this, and the order status is marked as ‘finished’ so I’m thinking this is a tad bit more then interesting. Anyone have a China Post tracking URL they trust?
I had a suspicion that the scam involved valid tracking IDs destined to the correct city, being provided as a means to show legitimacy even though there was something bogus going on.
The last few steps in my tracking shows:
2016-01-01 14:02 Exchange Bureau in Guangzhou, have been exported directly
2016-01-01 10:29 Exchange Bureau in Guangzhou, have been exported to open
2016-01-01 09:12 Dongguan city post office parcel mail processing center, left, next stop “Center of Dongguan”
but nothing since - at this rate I’m not expecting any further updates
I got the refund this morning from Aliexpress on my credit card. The tracking still shows “Terminal leave [Guangzhou]” but suspect the same scam that has befallen mtylerjr.
I got some more information (this is turning into a crime drama)
We spoke with the courier who delivers to our address. He had some other info, including the internal tracking # that NZPost used when the item came into the country.
He said the item was delivered to an address in the town of “Reefton” on the NZ West coast, to a guy with the same name that shows up as having signed for it.
I’ve opened a case with NZPost, and told them where the package was delivered (the info from their own courier) so we will see what happens. Looking more and more like a scam though. I bet he shipped 1 package to each country, and gave everyone there the same tracking number.
The quadcopters are readily available for $13-15 though, and still worth it at that price…
I’m assuming the loss was based on exchange rates?
Well, if it’s a fee from Aliexpress, I can only imagine that, over a large enough set of transactions, scams could turn into a significant revenue stream, even once they’re “stopped”.
@ devhammer - He paid $9.42 USD and was refunded $9.42 USD. Aliexpress didnt make any money. His bank did. (and they would have lost money if the fluctuation had gone the other way)
I’ll send @ Andre.M the 14c since I made money in the AU / US conversion rates
Thus my original question of whether it was an issue of exchange rates. Do keep up.
I was answering your question, and giving andre.m info with the same post I think I am the one caught up, here

I think I am the one caught up, here
… and the only one with any of these 'copters in stock too !
Funnily enough, because of the exchange rate, I made money too.

I made 1,378.19 Rupiah on mine too. (About $0.10)
In all of this AliExpress won’t have lost as they received all payments in USD and paid back in USD. It’s the customers who paid from a foreign currency who will gain or lose on this.
