SC20100S 8MHz OSC

I’m in the process of designing my own board using the SC20100S chip. I’m curious if the 8MHz osc is required or if the operating system uses the internal clocks? I ask because I read somewhere that the external osc wasn’t used or was optional on another chipset.

Thank you.

On SC20xx, 8MHz osc is required.

That is also true, but an accurate clock source is required for reliable timing at high speeds.
That’s why TinyCLR requires an 8 MHz oscillator rather than treating it as optional.

Thank you for the information!

I don’t suppose I could get the part number for the osc that is used on the Duino board? I’d rather use something that’s been working the just pick any random osc.
