Over ten new .NET Gadgeteer modules are joining our family

OK…got a package today with my shiny new modules…where can I find the drivers?

This time I did check the toolbox first, and they don’t appear to be in the current SDK, nor am I seeing them on the Codeplex site.

I wanna play!

Sorry the drivers will a bit late as we are too busy stuck between 4.1 and 4.2.

 I’m stuck between needing the stability of 4.1 and wanting to play with 4.2. Keep at it! I hope that by time 4.3 comes around we’ll have a way to switch between versions and be able to use them both on the same machine simultaneously.

I use 4.1 and 4.2 on my machine at the same time (4.1 for Panda II, 4.2 for Cerb40). In the project properties, just pick target framework.

@ ianlee74 the only downside to living in the Great White North is how long it takes to get stuff to me, so by the time my new modules show up, no doubt the drivers will be ready.

A project that interests me, but I find comes up short is the AirQualityEgg #AirQualityEgg by #Sensemakers — Kickstarter and certainly it has some interesting modules (NO2 and CO) it really is missing the stuff that is on people’s minds right now, like radiation http://www.sparkfun.com/products/10742 or particulate http://www.sparkfun.com/products/9689

In Calgary given the petroleum industry I’d love to see sensors like hydrogen http://www.sparkfun.com/products/10916 , LPG http://www.sparkfun.com/products/9405 and Methane http://www.sparkfun.com/products/9404 , H2S and S04 would also be highly cool.

The more I think about a solid state pH sensor for water the more I love the idea and have a project this summer which would kill for a module like that. Dissolved oxygen sensor would also be very cool and popular with the fish folks and again work very well with that summer project coming up.

Solenoid valve module (or some other form) would be great but that zero pressure functionality is important and if was multi valved on the same module even better (landscape dudes will line up for that).

I would love also to see some seismic sensors, especially P-wave detectors as Japan’s Earthquake warning system earned its keep in spades in the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake Earthquake Early Warning (Japan) - Wikipedia

Thanks

@ godefroi - Really? I thought Gus had warned somewhere that you couldn’t run them both simultaneously so I hadn’t tried out of fear of messing up my machine. :frowning: I’ll give it a go this weekend then. Thanks for the heads up!

@ Duke - sounds like you just need a Star Trek Tricorder  Someone posted that in another thread somewhere. I’d like a mood sensor that I could put in the kitchen that would communicate with me over the net to tell me whether I should work late or not

@ ianlee74 pretty much every male on the planet would be happy to fork out huge bucks for a working mood sensor so however builds it first is going to be the world’s first Trillionarie overnight.

Don’t worry however as I have an idea for that, now if I can only get the wife to wear the sensor as she thinks its funny to put it on the dog so I come rushing home thinking she want to play (I’m not sure why she wants to play fetch), but as soon as I step in the door, its honey dew list time (if I’m lucky).

@ ianlee: note that I haven’t tried running the GHI SDK in both modes; I don’t know how that will react. The NETMF SDK, however, can multi-target.

Any chance you could share the dimensions for the RFID module so I can plan it into a design I’m working on? I’d like to ensure that I leave enough room to mount it and align the screw holes properly.

@ Kenny we would love to but we are afraid we may change the size after final testing. Check back next week please.

Welcome to the community.

@ gus can you tell me which RFID chip the module is using. I want to check the specs against the one I am using for my RFID module that I’m working on.

I’ll hold off on cutting my next enclosure to next week. I’ve got a few hardware variants using the ID-12, Parallax, and Seeed modules through an extender, but when I read the announcement for the GHI RFID module, I’ll be able to do the whole thing with Gadgeteer. Looking forward to hearing more.

Any [chance] you could [list?] the dimensions for the RFID module so I can [place] it into a [schematic?] I’m [working] on? I’d [like] to assure that I [provide?] [enough?] [?] to [?] it and [?] the [mounting] holes [properly].

At least, I think that’s what you meant.

@ godefroi - that’s way better than Google

Or is it just spam, with an actual user at the end. Don’t click the link to find out !

lol.

Over 12!
