Living overseas has the disadvantage of having to pay high costs for shipping. I bought 4 of them and only paid the 4 quid postage option. The DHL price was as much as the modules. I am in no rush as I will be away for a short time so the cheapest option is fine.
That’s a sad fact of life here in Romania too. 24% tax, plus around USD$12 customs agency fee, plus storage fees if the papers aren’t perfect, plus a minimum of $25 shipping if you want anything in less than 10 days (via DHL or UPS). If you opt for postal deliver (10-22 days) there’s an unbelievably creaky system of little glass windows, hand written forms, manual inspections and stamps and fees. …and I’m told that this is all an improvement over a few years ago.
The effect on the growth of any tech industry or maker movement should be obvious. If you find anything in-country at less than a 50-100% markup over the US or UK prices, you’ve found a bargain.
Looks like the Dragonboard is $75/board, and Win10 support is only ‘planned’. I can get at least two RPi 2’s for that price, including the elusive wifi.
I agree, the price of an RPI2 is hard to beat, if at all. For those who are in need of more power and more goodies and don’t need to purchase through different channels (extra shipping costs) it might be an alternative.
For Windows 10, as far as I understood this was always and still is on the radar, at least the site states the promising words ‘coming soon’ …
I might put a little Microsoft “.m” after my name (mtylerjr.m) also, to thank Microsoft for all the cool stuff they do. It’s a great idea andre.m. Let’s see if we can get that to catch on and get more people to do it, so we can show our support for microsoft, and encourage them to keep up the good work.
They were cheap so grab a few at the same time as I am sure you will have a few Pi projects in the near future. I bought 4 and have 2 Pi’s in progress (slow though)

Actually, hat’s are supposed to use GPIO 0 and 1. The release note is saying that those pins are not available for your apps to use because they are reserved for internal use by the hats and firmware. Previously, they were erroneously left accessible.
