Gadgeteer project-templates are missing from Visual Studio Express

Hi there,

First time install ever, I never used any of these before.

VS. express and SDK installed.
The GHI ‘package’ is installed.

During creating a new project in VS express it doesn’t have a Gadgeteer Application icon as it is shown in the distributed ‘FEZSpaider getting started guide.pdf’. (I am interested in spider)
Instead I see a list of what seems to be a board-template-list:
ChipworkX
EMX
Fez Cobra windows/ consol
Domino
Panda
Panda II
Rhino
USBizi

I uninstalled and re-installed the GHI bundle - no change.

How do i go about that?
I searched the forum but it seems I am the only one with this.

Thanks,
Will

Did you install all SDK’s etc including the NETMF SDK?

And welcome

Thanks for the welcome Justin!

If you mean the:
Gadgeteer SDK for NETMF v4.1
SDK Version 1.6.0

it was installed by the ‘GHI bundle’.

Have you installed Microsoft’s NETMF 4.2 QFE2 SDK?

When you create a new project does it look like this?

If you mean the Microsoft .Net MicroFrameworkSDK - yes too.
It is 4.1 [QFE1]
I have only C# installed and there is one ‘Installed Template’. That is Micro Framework.
And under this all the above mentined boards are listed.

(I’m struggling with the terminology - sorry.
Hope it makes sense.)

thanks.

So no Gadgeteer above Micro Framework?

No. I understand it is still beta.
I just want something stabe to start with

@ Hunor - something has not been installed you should have a Gadgeteer template item like in the image above…

So you did steps 1,2 and 3 here Support – GHI Electronics ?

Nopp.

Yes. I uderstood it has to be in this order.
When it didn’t work i uninstalled and reinstalled the GHI bundle.
This would make it to be the last one.

erm, starting to run out of ideas…
Last guess would to to redo step 2 and 3 in that order

… i was afraid of that … i just spent half a night with updating … oh well, such is life …

Thanks anyway.

Keep us posted with any news, one of the Guru’s will probably have better ideas then me

OK! While uninstalling the GHI SDK i received an error. I started a new thred for that as it is not really related to this one. (Or so i believe … maybe it is …)

I uninstalled lock, stock and barrel … via the controlpanel/programs and features.
Then installed it all.
It works now.

Some differences:
Previously i installed as a standard user. Now I logged in as an admin.

Previously I used a webinstaller for VC#.
Now i used an earlier download of the VS Express ISO. This version: 10.0.30319.1 RTMRel
I didn’t check if this version is different from the web-downloaded version.

The rest of the procedure was the same as before.

One more to add to the previous, failed installation: VS was not running when i was installing the .Net MicroFramework and the GHI bundle.

Thank you for Justin again.

@ Hunor - sweet as, glad your up and running

I wonder if this was the real problem. Anyone else installed as a standard user rather than Admin??
