What new module(s) for Gadgeteer?

@ ianlee74 - parallax has such a device

http://www.parallax.com/product/28044

@ Brett - Found someone who is/was working on an AC dimmer.

Is this targeted the phase controlled modulator module I suggested?
I quick glimpse over the schematics does not show zero point synchronization which is absolutely necessary for motors.

@ Reinhard Ostermeier - Zero crossing detection is done in the opto coupler (MOC3041)

@ Reinhard Ostermeier - Would the “zero volt on” solid state relays help to solve the problem?

Now I see it.

Never heard of such a thing !?

I just received one of these laser rangefinders, I will post a code snippet for it soon. be aware that its range is only 20> range >240 cm.

Looks like a nice one. However, I want something that I can safely point towards people.

Then you should attach a laser glasses thrower to it

btw. Class 3 or 3M is safe according to the specs, because the eye closing reflex is fast enough. This module is 3a, not sure what’s special about a.

Personally I wouldn’t point it against people anyway.

Yea, I’m pretty sure that excuse wouldn’t hold up in court

Do we have the same idea  ?

Like these?

I will, along with the full build instructions for my project. My goal with this project is to land on HackADay’s front page again and link people back to GHI and NETMF. …To grow the community.

Non US3 modules as those have a resolution about 1cm and I’d prefer 1mm. I was thinking hookup would be via a JST connector and I was thinking of these types of sensors
https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11307 and the idea is you can attach whatever sensor works for you needs beam width etc.

Dear Duke.

I’ve always been impressed by the Atlas stuff and at $600 for a full kit https://www.atlas-scientific.com/product_pages/kits/sds-kit.html your module sounds very interesting.

They have some cool stuff like this water sensor http://www.cooking-hacks.com/shop/new-products/water-leakage-liquid-detection-sensor-line , but for me its got to have a Gadgeteer socket on it

Of course bio-medical is always nice, like a An electromyogram (EMG) measures the electrical activity of muscles at rest and during contraction or The electrocardiogram (ECG or EKG) is a diagnostic tool that is routinely used to assess the electrical and muscular functions of the heart and a nasal airflow sensor and galvanic skin response sensor would be nice for when we are trying to scare the crap out of the monkeys eg http://www.cooking-hacks.com/shop/sensors/airflow-sensor-breathing-ehealth-medical

No, the lipo-rider-pro is like a black box, the code cannot control or read charging etc. in a real setting this is a requirement. Furthermore, only lipo batteries supported.

Good point, but you can read the current charge on the Energy Shield (A0 Pin). I’d love to see GHI do a battery (with LiPo support) module.
