Vs1003 gbuf

Hello,

I am currently wiring up a VS1011E mp3 board (as an alternative to the gadgeteer one sold by GHI) and I am wiring it directly to a mono amp for speaker output which is a simple one wire in. The problem I have is that I don’t really understand what the GBUF pin is for?

Normally this would go to the 3rd connection on the Headphone socket so I presume it acts as a ground pin for the headphones. With the mono amp only accepting one input (In this case the left speaker) would I simply leave the GBUF pin floating or do I still need to ensure the amp goes to the GBUF ground? :S

I hope that makes some sense? I am still trying to learn all this electronic stuff, I am a programmer by trade :stuck_out_tongue:

P.s This is the board I have https://www.sparkfun.com/products/8819

Thanks,

Paul

Thanks, I cant believe I missed that. When I searched for it some people had GBUF wired to ground and then some links said never ever connect it to ground so I was getting a little confused.

Thanks for your help

You’re welcome. The datasheet is usually the best place to start for a question like that
