USB Client DP Flashing Red Light

I am getting a flashing red led on my USB Client DP module. It’s also hot, I checked around the forum and saw a post by harleydk from 6 months ago where he experienced the same problem. The module is fine unless my Spider is connected. The Spider doesn’t seem to get hot. I had just updated the frimware when this happened. There’s nothing to short it on my desktop. Is there any way to fix this?

Spider is probably dead. Make sure nothing is connected except spider.

Yeah, I’ve tried with nothing connected. Any idea how it would have died?

dead shorts like that means a short inside one the chips. The main cause for this is static discharge or improper connection to a conductive load.

I updated my other Spider board then connected the CP7 that was previously connected to the Spider that appears to be dead. The screen on the CP7 is messed up now. I disconnected it afraid that it might damage the second Spider board and connected a T35. The boot message comes up so I know the update worked but when I try to load my program from Visual Studio, it never enters debug mode. It finds the debugger, says it’s loading then Visual Studio goes back to being ready. The screen on the T35 never makes it past “waiting for debugger…”

Are both Spiders dead now?

Jeremy

No. My guess is project/firmware versions mismatch.

Start clean, with an updated spider, new project and nothing is connected but spider and power module.
