Hi everyone,

I’m new here and I’m starting with issues

How can I fix this "This device cannot start. (Code 10)

{Operation Failed}
The requested operation was unsuccessful."?

This is what my Windows (8 in two machines and 7 in another one) says when I plug my FEZ Hydra. :-S

First things first, make sure you have the latest SDK’s (.Netmf, GHI and Gedgeteer) installed, do this before you plug your Hydra in.
Are you using a USB hub? and is it a powered hub?
There are a number of people that have reported issus using non powered hubs. Once you ahve done the above then plug the Hydra directly into a USB port on the machine.

Thanks for your answer. Unfortunately I didn’t much time to try it harder, but after doing the updates recommended by you, now I’m (I think) worst than before

Now, my FEZ Hydra is recognised by Windows 8 as “GPS Camera” ?!?!?!?!

absolutely, that’s better. That’s the first step in manually updating the firmware on your device, so it’s great you got to that point. But do you know how you got there? Typically that’s by using the LOADER routine (shorting a pin to GND, see http://www.ghielectronics.com/docs/125/firmware-update-fez-hydra for details, and below for a quote from it)

If you do not have SD card or SD Module, place a wire between MISO (socket #3 or #4 pin #8) and GND (socket #3 or #4 pin #10) then power up the board, wait 5 seconds and remove the wire. Do NOT leave the wire there for more than 5 seconds. See pin numbering on the Gadgeteer_Sockets http://www.ghielectronics.com/docs/120/gadgeteer-sockets page. When this is done, the board is now not erased but it is running the internal Atmel SAM-BA software and windows will detect it as a virtual COM port. From this point, you can load TinyBooter using SAM-BA.

Then, once you can load the firmware you then need to ensure the driver loads correctly. That may actually require you to use the procedure in the forum post that Andre posted, where you uninstall the driver and select the remove files option, and reinstall as Gus points out.

Thanks a lot.

I had to run the Erase the Dataflash like Brett said and after that I had to run manually the UpdateFEZHydra comX

So, it’s working now.
