Separate search categories are handy as shortcuts when you do want to search in just Catalog, Forum, etc.

I see the value in joined search too. Maybe add another “All” category, but keep the ones we have already intact.

I agree. We should not remove the individual search feature.

It’s all about optimal presentation and layout. Google, for example, also return all kind results (calculator, maps, images and plain old text links) — all neatly organized.
