I just posted Add version to ALFAT firmware filenames on Task Tracker. Feel free to discuss and make suggestions here.
I agree, that’s a useless and tricky approach. Say, I have an ALFAT chip which says its version is 2.0.0. Cool. Now, I download the “newest” version from https://www.ghielectronics.com/catalog/product/512. Is it newer? There’s no way to tell. Alright then, lets flash the new image. When I do that, I see FW version is … still 2.0.0. GHI now ows me 2 minutes of my life that I’ve just uselessly wasted.
This was the funny part Now comes the one that turns me into a mad bear: if I open ALFAT manual 2.10, on the first page, at the very bottom, I see a line “Firmware V2.02”. Dear GHI guys, didn’t you forget something?
I agree. We will make it happen.
