Suggestion on firmware Update

Got an Essentials Kit today.

First thing to do was to update the firmware.

I was using an update to date Windows 11 PC.

All went well until I erased the sensor attached to the PC via a USB→DueLink adapter.

The instructions said if the Erase All option was selected the device would be put into DFU mode.

That is what happened, but I was not able to continue with the firmware update. When I tried to load the firmware, I was told there was not a compatible device.

To get to the end of the story, I found that the DFU driver was not installed when the sensor was put into DFU mode. I manually tried to update driver from the Device manager, but it said it was unable to find the driver.

I downloaded the driver, from the DueLink site download section, and loaded it. Like magic, the firmware update began to work.

I do not have any STM development tools loaded on this PC.

It would be interesting to hear if the driver experience was local to my PC, or others have experienced it.

I believe the documentation is getting an update on this subject?

I think it likely happens on all Windows 11 PCs.

Happens on win10 as well as Linux in my experience

We do have a note and a link to the driver, but it is not clear when you do erase all. I will let you know when we improve, so you can see if it is clearer. Here is what the step 5 says today:

  1. Click the Connect button below and select DFU in FS mode. If you don’t see it, check your Device Manager, you might need to install the USB drivers, or you forgot to hold LDR down while resetting!
