Sound equalizer - which module?

Hi everybody,

i want to create a equalizer with my 4-digit-shield http://www.suplanus.de/4-digit-shield-class/
Want to show the loudness an nodes (spectrum) of the music.

Which module i need?

I think what you want is a spectrum analyzer (using FFT f.e.) not an equalizer.
You could use an audio encoding chip, but your result will not be real-time. AFAIK there is no module with a AD convertor that takes a microphone input…

try this I used it in a project

http://www.sparkfun.com/products/10306 with the FEZ Panda not sure how it would work with Gadgeteer you can also buy the chip used on it ( MSGEQ7) and make you own circuit. I am working on that now but its is weeks away
