SerialPort/UART

If I were to buy the Gadgeteer system I’d like to use an existing GPS I have currently. I don’t see too much with Gadgeteer with SerialPorts.

I’m guessing I could use the existing GPS by using the Extender module and using a “K” (http://gadgeteer.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Socket%20Type%20K)
PIN 4 - TX, PIN 5 - RX - Am I on the right track here?

Also since I only see one K per Spider or Hydra; am I limited to one Serial? Any work around for multiple Serials if need be?

Thank you for your help,
Brian

Or socket type U. Remember that tx and Rx are based on what you’re looking at, so tx on the gps is sending gps data, tx on the mainboard is sending from netmf, so you have to connect tx to Rx.

Most mainboards have three or more uarts, the K socket exposes flow control pins, and they often are limited to one uart. That’s why you only see one K, but there are more U’s. Hydra has 4 U’s including the one that is also a K.

Not sure how I didn’t see the U socket. Thank you Brett.
