Does any one use a chip version of a SD / microSD Card?
The idea is to solder it direct onto a pcb.
I have seen iNAND fram Sanddisk but it is expensive not freaking easy to solder.
Yup, I don’t think my $5 soldering iron will cut the mustard on those bad boys… 
Is a microSD and slot to big for you?
“Small” and “easy to solder” are mutually exclusive. You won’t get anything anywhere near the capacity of MicroSD in a form factor that is anywhere near as easy to solder as a MicroSD slot.
