RSSI translation for WiFi RS9110

#1

I’m teaching my Spider how to sniff out WAP, and one thing I’d like to do is show relative signal strength in mW. Unfortunately, the Redpine data sheet for the RS9110 http://www.redpinesignals.com/pdfs/datasheets/RS9110-N-11-22_DataSheet.pdf is lacking that particular data point.
The Gadgeteer SDK doesn’t provide a max value for this property, either (can probably assume int.MaxValue)…?

TIA,

I found http://wenku.baidu.com/view/0c280c05e87101f69e319575.html, which states that the RSSI property is a “absolute value of the RSSI information”.
In testing, this value increases inversely with WAP distance, so it’s probably safe to assume that it represents negative Dbm; not mW.

The RSSI value is in dBm.
For example if RSSI = 20 then it is -20 dBm

Kewlness - thanx for verifying this for me!
