Just an idea, but wouldn’t the optical/visual effect be better if all the led were turned 180° in order to use the reflection of the cd ? Meaning have the blue leds point downwards and the red leds inwards?

That is a very cool idea! Too bad the LEDs are already glued on the CDs.
Note that the LEDs look amazing in reality. You loose 90% if the coolness by taking a picture with a camera.
