Well, as fall (if you can call it that) is nearing it’s end and moving into what is supposed to be a winter wonderland, I am beginning to notice some odd things happening that has never happened before, even when we have had unseasonably warm weather in the past. The trees are beginning to produce beautiful spring-time buds, the tomatoes in what is left of my garden are beginning to blossom again and the snapdragons are producing blank seeds ready for pollination. This is very strange indeed as the main reason for a plants growth cycles (vegetation and flowering) are regulated mostly by color temperature and time-span of the light they receive from the sun, so regardless of temperature, the plants should be in their post-flowering cycle where they are getting ready for winter.
Has anyone else seen strange behavior similar to this in other places?
@ Architect - Yes and no. I believe that something will happen, but far from an end-of-the-world style prophecy. We know that this event has happened many times throughout human history and we are still here, however we also know that the Earth wobbles slightly on it’s axis, and one must ask how it became so. The planetary alignment could very well cause a slightly more drastic wobble which could cause a global climate shift, which would also change color temperatures because it increases the degree of the angle in which the sun’s light hits our atmosphere, which could also explain what we are seeing in the plant life.
@ James - Saw in interesting doco on the magnetic shift about 6 months ago, their hypotho was that it was a slow shift rather than a instant flick of the poles - was very interesting program…
Mayan calendars were Epocs. No end of world predictions just era changes. I wonder how accurate it will prove to be. We’re still some 80 odd thousand years away from the next pole flipping. Maybe on Dec 21 Steve Jobs will rise again to merge Apple and Microsoft bringing us into an era of hackable devices with cases designed by art majors.
Thousands of years in the future when the poles change…there should be an app to update that little north pointing arrow on every map ever made. Someone get on it!
