Migrate v2 project on V3

Hi guys,

I need to port an old project from V2 to V3.

I’m not a visual studio user and such of activities where conduct by a former coleague now retired.

So basically I follow the step by step indication.

Step-by-step: bringing a v2 project to v3

  1. Install TinyCLR v3 — Visual Studio extension and matching firmware. See Getting Started for the current installer links.
  2. Update the firmware on your device to a matching v3 version using TinyCLR Config.
  3. Create a new TinyCLR Application in Visual Studio (File → New → Project → C# → TinyCLR).
  4. Copy your .cs source files from the v2 project into the new project’s folder, then add them to the project via Project → Add → Existing Item…. Don’t copy .csproj or solution files — let the new template own those.
  5. Reinstall the NuGet packages your code uses (GHIElectronics.TinyCLR.Devices.Gpio, .Pins, networking packages, drivers, etc.). The package names didn’t change; just install the v3 versions.
  6. Build and deploy. Most code will compile and run; fix any compilation warnings about deprecated members as they appear.

But now when I try to compile, I got plenty of error.

What is wrong with Program?

I’m sorry for my ignorance.

If your project compiled and ran well before, then it’s likely a caching issue.

Close Visual Studio → delete .vs, bin, obj, and packages → reopen Visual Studio → let the packages restore → rebuild.

This will fix 90% of issues caused by corrupted or broken cached files.

It even happens to us here sometimes, and we can get confused too, so you’re not alone.

Don’t hesitate to post any issues here. We’ll help!

I suggest you start with anew project and simply blink and LED Getting Started | GHI Electronics

Once you have that working then you know the firmware is updated, your PC is setup correctly and you are ready for migrating your old project. These are 2 separate needs.

The error message looks like a namespace issue?

In the program.cs file is there a namespace statement and is the name “MFC_SC”?
