The ESP07 certainly flashed ok. Now for the ESP01…
Another week, another new firmware!
Really looking forward to giving one of these a spin Mike. ;D
I lost two of four ESP8266-12 trying to install LUA.
The two that I flashed, using what I call the new style flasher, were not recoverable.
The other two I flashed, using what I call the old style flasher.
These two flashed without a problem.
I am not saying that one is better than the other. Just my experience.
I did not use the cloud. Flash using local files.

Old style flasher that worked
ESP8266_flasher_V00170901_00_Cloud Update Ready
Using ESP8266 LuaLoader 0.87
Using SciTE to edit lua script
Using lua 5.1.4
The image with the black background is the one that did not work for me.
Just my thoughts…
@ willgeorge - Interesting information and observations. I’ve used NodeMCU Firmware Flasher for the last two or three updates without a problem. I’ve flashed the ESP01, ESP03, ESP07 and ESP12’s with it. I haven’t gotten around to flashing the last FW version, but I am not expecting any problems…
I didn’t do anything special to use it apart from checking the memory locations were the ones included in the SDK download , and not sure I can offer up any suggestions, but I post this simply so that others know to that this FW updater can and does work.
