L289 Motor Controller help for an amateur

I’d like to apologize in advance for my ridiculous question, have worked with software for quite a long time but just dove into the hardware thing a few days ago and I’m afraid I don’t understand anything yet.

I’ve got a Fez Spider starter kit, wanted to also order the motor driver L289 module,

Wanted to connect two of these motors to it:

I see that the motor driver says it needs a seperate power source. This is where I’m stuck. I’ve got no idea how to connect the motors or the alternate power to the board. Would be eternally grateful for some help

Welcome to the community!

If you go to the catalog page for the module, and expand the little picture under the main picture, you will see that there are screw terminals for each motor, and the external motor power supply.

Really appreciate the feedback. I’m assuming this is what I’d do?

Also, what type of battery would you recommend?

You got it…  ;D
