It has arrived, meet BeagleBone™ Black Wireless!

If you couldn’t tell by the picture, GHI Electronics has partnered with BeagleBoard.Org Foundation to help with the releasing of BeagleBone™ Black Wireless! That’s right the Foundation earlier this week released BeagleBone™ Black Wireless and GHI Electronics was part of the design team while being a manufacturing launch partner. This weekend we will be with BeagleBoard.Org Foundation at the New York Maker Faire to help spread the Beagle Gospel. If you are in New York this weekend please stop by the BeagleBoard.Org Foundation booth in Zone 3 and say “Hi!” to the team!

BeagleBone™ Black Wireless was inspired by the original and game changing BeagleBone™ Black. BeagleBone™ Black Wireless replaces the 10/100 Ethernet port with onboard 802.11 b/g/n 2.4GHz WiFi and Bluetooth. That right, the extremely popular BeagleBone™ Black computer now comes with built-in wireless networking capability. However, this wasn’t the only change, BeagleBone™ Black Wireless now comes equipped with the OSD3358 System in Package (SiP) by Octavo Systems. By using the OSD3358 SiP, BeagleBone™ Black Wireless was designed using CadSoft Eagle making BeagleBone™ Black Wireless easy to modify and create custom designs.

@ njbuch - select via drop down list

@ Mike - After selecting Mouser, and the clicking on [url] - Page not found Purchase its a dead-end (to me…?).

Hmm, after a quick look at the design I have not been able to find the crucial support of low power circuitry for off-grid operation. In case I have missed something, can someone point to low-power operation guides or specs on this beauty?

@ njbuch - I was able to order two from mouser. I first selected element14 from drop down list and then mouser. Took a few tries

Looks like we can’t get it in the UK via Mouser. :wall:

@ Sprigo - Wow. Brexit was harsher than I thought.

This was the exact same issue with Element14 in Singapore. It was not available for export to another country and you could not purchase the BBB unless you held a local ID.

They have the BBBW listed but not available yet so I have emailed them to find out if there are restrictions on sales to overseas when it becomes available.

@ Dave if you need a “gift”, let me know and I can organise from here

Can’t find the price info. How much is it?

Edit: Nevermind.

It gives the same message for the Netherlands… so not UK related

The mouser warning message implies that it is not exportable outside of the US…?

Hmm. Available through mouser here in New Zealand, so that’s not it.

$114 NZD… that’s $81 USD

Only $68 or so in the US

It’s mainly down to distributor agreements and nothing to do with US exports. Each country or region has it’s own distributor and they sign an agreement not to sell outside their own country or region, which is fair.

Looks like Mouser have it sorted now.

@ Sprigo - Great feature but I was thinking $70 U.S. is still a little pricey, considering alternatives available.
