After looking at the quality of the prints even after vapor smoothing, I’d say they have a loooong way to go.

How far away can you pop balloons?
You can pop balloons with a 0.25W lasers and this where you should stop using as a toy. 2.5W~5.5W lasers can cut thin wood, cardboard, thin acrylic With 6.5W~10W lasers can engrave on stainless steel, iron, aluminum, ceramics, stone… you can probably even cut copper on PCBs

I developed firmware for JDS Uniphase’s DPSS lasers - played with them in my cubicle quite a bit (burning holes in the partition between me and my colleagues)
Most of the lasers were green, and all were used for fiber optics communication, not engraving. At that wavelength, it took 80-100 mW to eventually set typical paper on fire - even then you had to train on a fixed spot for quite awhile. Being as this was before 9/11 (and before everyone had laser pointers) I would train them on passing planes (lol)
I had a 100mW laser in my jeep wrangler (convertible) that I just had pointed to the sky. It was nerdy-cool. I would never do that now, though. Probably a felony.
