Holiday Tree

Hello !

Perfect timing: holiday tree arrived this morning, few days before christmas to prepare decoration !

So I connect it, and can hear a sweet sound of Christmas. But only one LED blinks ???

I update firmware, go to microblocks and try some test, but only one LED …

I go with Duelink and console (with Driver) same behaviour.

I think it should be an error in code, but can’t find it.

Which LED is working? Is it L1?

Which example are you trying?

Yes L1 is the only one

I’ll try two first examples.

Oh that is bad news. LEDs are in a chain. Maybe L2 is bad, causing the rest not to work.

Do you have a decent power source on USB? Do you see and issues of you look close at L1 and L2?

Are you using micro blocks? If you look at the hyperlink on top, do you see -pilot in it?

Try controlling L1 only. If you can adjust the color and dimming on L1 as expected, it seems L2 is faulty and is stopping everything from L2 onward.

If L1 behaves strangely—such as turning on randomly—then I suspect an issue with the power supply.

I guess.

I’ve controller continuity L2 seems correct linked. But maybe faulty ?

Pilot is ok (I’ve update the board, so I must have upload driver again).

L1 seems fine: good color, stable, brightness adjustable.

What about try connect CLK and DATA directly to third ? (temporaly with wires ?)

If Gus was right then it should work. Only two pins CLK and DATA enough.

Have you tried powered hub? USB charger? Just to make sure this is not a power issue

Sadly yes

Only one wire is used: I linked the dot pin of L2 with the dot pin of L3. L3 and next are working as expected. So it’s L2 which is broken.

These were fully tested before they shipped. The led must have got damaged during shipping. We need to do something about that. I

f you look really close with a magnifier at it, do you see anything odd?

Thank you very much for helping us figure this out.

Did you buy any chance order more than one? Any other issues?

I can’t see anything else. I think it’s a faulty LED and not a problem in conception of product.

And, yes I have ordered more than one: one for me, one for my daughter and one for my son. I’ll take the one with dead LED (and can put a wire to bypass this one).
