I was trying to reinstall the OS on my daughters laptop but the DVD drive is broken. I could not get a USB connected DVD drive to work either. I found this little program: http://www.isotousb.com/ . It will burn an ISO onto a thumbdrive and make it bootable. I gave it a shot with Windows 8 and it worked great! Just thought I would pass it along as it was handy and installing from a thumbdrive was a lot faster than by DVD.
