Hall Proximity Sensor

A few months back I read somewhere about a new Hall Effect sensor that would not only tell if a magnet was near but would also report back how far away it was. Now that I need it, I can’t seem to find it again. I’m finding some for radial encoders that tell angles but I need one that reports [high resolution] distance. Does anyone know what this part is?

Wonder how that works?

I guess you need to calibrate it to the field strength of the magnet you will use otherwise, how would it work out distance? A small magnet 10mm away would give a small reading but a bugger and stronger magnet at the same distance would give a higher reading.

I’d be curious if you do find it though as I would have an application myself for such a device.

I suspect you’re right. That would be acceptable for my application.
