Gadgeteer board equivalent of Configuration.PermanentUserKey?

As referenced here: http://www.ghielectronics.com/downloads/NETMF/Library%20Documentation/html/ebe3bf60-213f-9ea6-c3f7-20575d9e9fb2.htm

I would like to have a unique ID per main board that I can use as a unique reference in my data correlation app.

I’ve poked around in Object Browser and don’t see it in any of the OSHW or Gadgeteer libraries so far. I’m on meds though, so could have missed it.

If it’s not there, can I make a formal request to have it added, assuming it’s physically capable of the current boards on the market. If not the latter of that, I’ll need you guys to make me a new board that does have it and will have to buy a bunch of those too!

Thanks!
Steve

There are one wire ID chips. Very useful and very inexpensive.

documentation says it is in EMX or usbizi only, so you will not find it with OSHW libraries.

further, you will no find it in Gadgeteer libraries because it is in the base NETMF GHI libraries.

I am away from a dev system, so I don’t know if it is in 4.2. not sure it was in 4.2?

Right, the documentation says it is only in EMX or usbizi - that’s why I’m asking if it is available, there are plans to make it available or if I can request that it be added.

If it’s not something many people want/need, I’m fine using a one-wire chip like Gus suggested.

@ Mike - I didn’t see it in GHI.OSHW.Hardware or any of the other 4.2 (July BETA) DLLs I looked through. Don’t feel like you need to do a ton of digging unless you just want to know for your own interest

We plan to clean all this up shortly after 4.2 is finally released in short weeks.

You don’t happen to have a suggested chip do you? Preferably something you’ve already tested with SoM or Gadgeteer?

All 1-wire devices have a unique ID as far as I know: Mixed-signal and digital signal processing ICs | Analog Devices

So f.e. you could add a DS18S20 (digital temperature sensor) and have the unique ID for free
If you only want a one-wire ID you can go for the DS2401: Mixed-signal and digital signal processing ICs | Analog Devices

At work we use this I2C silicon serial number chip: the DS28CM00 more info here: Mixed-signal and digital signal processing ICs | Analog Devices

Wow, glad to know. All of my rovers will have a temp sensor (and light sensor most likely), so I can use that.

Much appreciated!
