Why do you use the 1Mb version of STM32F427 for G80 being that there is little cost difference with the 2Mb version? There is very little space left for code.
Regards
Because there is plenty of flash left for the user. If you needed more memory then the G120 has tons more.
Thanks Gus. I think one of the things I liked GHI is the added value in the software and the model you propose to move from a prototype to a production scale.
I believe that 256 KB is not much memory. Between G80 and G120 there is a significant price jump and much more in performance. For someone who wants to produce a final device in quantity, such as a gateway, it is important to keep it within a reasonable cost. An additional MB for something like two dollars I do not think it will affect sales of the most powerful platforms. It is my humble opinion that obviously does not have to be shared. Best regards.
@ pablodh - Both packages have 256kb Ram, the difference is in 1/2mb Flash for program space.
@ pablodh - you only need more ram for displays and graphics and when you do, you need a lot of ram. So G80 does everything perfectly, except graphics. This is where G120 comes in. Providing a solution half way is not needed.
Note that was ram we are talking about. Giving more flash on G80 will not benefit most users and will increase the cost. Your original post is about flash.
@ pablodh - and let me add this. Once you design something and you know the extra flash will be needed in your application, just contact us and we will be happy to accommodate your needs.
