G400 Sockets

I bought a G400 to attempt to upgrade my Panda board but I must admit that I am lost. How do I know what sockets on the header board to plug my modules into. Currently I have a USB client, Character Display module, RS485 module, and a microSD module. I understand that the builtin ethernet does not work(going to buy that module) but I don’t understand where to plug the modules into or what source of information I need to find to get that information. Would someone please point me in the right direction?

you mean a G400HDR board?

Assuming this is your first Gadgeteer device, and you don’t have the genuine Gadgeteer module for each of these, you’ll need to look at the socket types that the board offers and connect them appropriately. https://www.ghielectronics.com/docs/120/gadgeteer-sockets has the map - for example, SD card is a F type, and that’s socket 10 on G400HDR. The rest you’re going to need to work through matching the connection of the Gadgeteer device to what socket you have available and connect them via an Extender or spliced cable. If you have genuine Gadgeteer modules for these, then it’s just a case of using the module’s printed socket type and connect to an appropriate socket, easy!

https://www.ghielectronics.com/docs/112/g400 has the G400 firmware instructions etc plus some info on G400HDR.

also, check out the G400HDR mainboard definition at https://www.ghielectronics.com/community/codeshare/entry/739

You probably should also do a search for G400HDR over there as there are some examples of people getting started there that you will most likely benefit from

Wow! Talk about ‘blinding flash of the obvious’. I did not realize that the G400 was a Gadgeteer item. I am used to the Panda scheme and was using that as a reference for connecting different items. I played with this thing for over a week and the only thing that I accomplished was flashing some leds and I2c comms. Thanks for your help!
