Hi All,
new here, sorry of this in the wrong place…
I have a Raspberry Pi and have bought a FEZ Relay Block to work with it:

My notes on the Pi say,
“GPIO voltage levels are 3v3 and are not 5v tolerant. There is no over-voltage protection on the board”
RPi Low-level peripherals - eLinux.org
Should it be OK to just connect the Relay Block to the GPIO pins, or will I need to protect it in some way?
Many thanks for your advice,
-Duncan.
Yes it should work but of courses we can’t be responsible for any damage
since your board is not “gadgeteer”
Let is know how if worked and show some pictures please.
Can I also suggest that you use an Extender module with your Relay module? This will break out the pins of a relay module nicely and make it easier to wire up…
Thanks both, I’ll let you know how it goes
Hi all,
I bought the extender but it has a (gadgeteer) 10pin IDC Socket

Where as the Relay Block connects to a JST3AA

Is there a good way to connect these, or should I just cut the cable and forget the extender?
Thanks,
-Duncan.
it looks like you’ll need to get this as well…

or cut the cable if you wish…
I’m sorry, I’m a horrible person. I thought you had the gadgeteer relay module.
I would say just snip off the plug on the relay block…
- S’okey -
I might get a gadgeteer relay modeule next…
(presumably that would work same as the FEZ one with a Pi?)
In the meantime, I’ll just snip… Kind regards, -Duncan.
