Fez Panda II and GE-35 Christmas Lights Managed Driver

Hi again,

I’ve continued playing with the Fez Panda II, the GE-35 Christmas Lights, and Andrejk’s managed driver at http://www.tinyclr.com/codeshare/entry/146

I even got the same logic analyzer to see what I’m sending versus what the original controller board sent.

The picture shows two logic captures. The top one is the Fez board, and the bottom is the original unit.

I just downloaded the code and started using it…but it looks like there is more to it than that…and I’ve had fun looking…

  1. How do I get the Fez board to start low, instead of high?
Or am I making too big a deal of that and I should focus on the other issues…such as the gap between frames?

Thanks,
Duane

Hello again

my only question, does it actually work? If so, job done, move on and have fun playing with sequences and stuff

This may help:

Thanks Axelg and Brett! And Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Brett–No, it’s not really working. I can set the colors, but I can’t set the colors of a specific bulb. When I turn odd lights green and even lights red, it’s just jumbled.

Alexg-Thanks for the link…I’m going through it now.

What I’ve determined from Andrejk’s solution is that he’s expecting each nibble (4 bits) to take 10uS to transmit…but it looks like there are some instances where the signal takes considerably longer to transmit the bits than it should. I can send a screen shot of that if necessary.

I got it…

My daugter’s boyfriend was here and re recommended putting a 10K ohm resistor between D11 and Ground.

Once I did that, I started getting all the predictable behavior I was looking for.

Now I can have fun and start sequencing!

Thanks all!

ok, great. I had asked Andrej to check in here but I guess that isn’t necessary now !

Sounds like your daughter has a good eye for the boys  She must have been raised right!
