Chris, i was thinking perhaps you could drill a couple of 3mm holes in the chassis plate and then use long standoffs to mount the electronics. If you got long body posts you could put a truck or truggy body on it which would protect all your internals (since bodies are lexan)
Ah, I see. Yeah, I hadn’t even though of doing something like that when I decided on the Stampede. That might be a good idea for the next iteration of this robot.
Chris,
Thanks for asking, I have not got a o-scope yet, mainly because it is kind of off my budget for robotic since I doing this purely as a hobby, I am not realy aimining on anything big robotics to me is just purely a hobby, I am not an electrical person so getting a O-scope seems too serious
plus I am not sure if it benefit me since I dont really know how to read signal pulse stuffs
Anyway, for RC, I believe something really wrong about my FEZ mini as I couldnt get it to work with TRAXXAS 's ESC, therefore I have beeing working this project on NetDuino. I would love to work this project on both FEZ and Netduino and get a comparison and feeling on both hardware as I really love FEZ too but since mini gave up on me. I thought I will just work this out on the netduino. So far netduino is working just fine, still waiting on more BEC in order to eleminate the loosing external battery.
Will keep you updates as there is news. currently there isnt one.
Thanks!
Oh, so the Netduino is working with the ESC?
Chris it should work now - the 4.1.1 Netduino firmware has the PWM fixes everyone was asking for as I recall.
Out of curiosity, what is the advantage of using any NETMF device beside FEZ? As far as I know, FEZ has most features and most sold firmware, with most knowledgeable support staff
Hi Gus,
There may be a PWM bug in he mini. I don’t have a mini and Hai doesn’t have an Oscope, so we cant be sure. Either way, his mini will not talk to his ESC correctly.
mini or domino or any other fez, beside cobra, all run the same firmware.
Hi Gus,
Is it possible that PWM still exists in the mini? Hai and I talked over the phone and that’s the only thing that I can really think would cause his issues. Otherwise, can you rapidly ramp the PWM signal up on one of your Minis and probe it to see if the pin does something weird? I sent you some test code a while back that should do this.
Chris
Yes works just fine on netduino
Gus
No doubt that FEZ made great boards and had great support from members. But I have spent good amount of time on the problem (2-3 weeks) with helps of expert like Chris’s and was unable to solve the issue. But is a time to stop and for it was about the time
Thanks
Hi Hai, can you use MFDeploy to find out your device capabilities and post them here? I have a feeling you have the wrong firmware installed.
Chris
I sure can, but im Boston now and wont be back to houston till weekend i will look into that once im back
Thanks
Ok,
If you have the right firmware, it will say something like CHRIS BUILD. Just look for my name in one of the version fields If you see it, you have the right version.
Chris
Will do thanks
In other news, I dropped off the RC car at the hobby shop to get fixed today. The owner was pretty confident I did the repair correctly after playing with it a bit, but he said he’d have someone look at it anyway.
If you did it correctly why is it still grinding?
It’s not really grinding, it just sounds weird. I’d rather have an expert look at it before I strip any of the gears.
transmissions do tend to make a fair bit of noise. Let us know what they say.
Yeah, I will. Once I empty my bank account. : $30/hr.
What do you do Chris?
