Is it possible to get internet to endpoint by connecting a cellphone to the USB upstream port? I’ve tried simple experiments but to no avail. I figured I should ask before I spend too much time on this.
I don’t see why it doesn’t work, or I am missing something.
Depending on your local network setup, you may need to manually add or change IP routes on the machine you are tethered to.
Ok so this is supposed to work. Sigh. That means I either have some config problem. It doesn’t work with my particular phone brand for some reason, the cable, the hub, power problems…
Shawn:
I think you have to be a bit more specific with your question.
Exactly which USB port are you referencing? There are two, and up/down to me is vague…
Is the EP OS configured to prove Ethernet Tethering on both USB ports? Dat?
Does the phone require configuration to enable tethering?
Nope. Doesn’t work. Android’s demand to be the DHCP host gets in the way. Ah well.
Since the phone is providing the IP service it is logical that it be the DHCP host.
