Electroluminescent Module

Hello,
Does anyone know if I could modify a Smart Multicolor LED Module (DaisyLink) to control Electroluminescent panel instead of the LED?
So the blinking command will make the Electroluminescent panel blink etc?
I want to create a tron style product using GHI components.
Thanks

Welcome aboard!!

You can’t just swap the LED for the EL wire as the GHI parts run on DC power and the EL devices run on AC.

That said, there are controller boards and inverters that could be connected indirectly to a FEZ.

Here’s some more info on EL from Adafruit: Overview | EL Wire | Adafruit Learning System

Here’s a sequencer from Sparkfun: (old one) https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9203 — here’s the current device: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/10878?

Welcome to the forum!

There is a generic DaisyLink module DL40 that you can use to prototype. Do you have specification of the panel?

I have a seven wire EL module in the works…

Interesting, more details please.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the quick responses, usually I write a post on a forum and check back in a weeks time.
We are running the modules on a Fez spider board.
We’ve got the LED’S working, but the LED’S don’t have the same visual impact as EL panels
I come up with the product design ideas and my developer friend does the coding
I’ll research the following suggestions.
Cheers

We’re a pretty active bunch around here! (especially Juzzer of late!!)

@ mhectorgato - Here’s the latest WIP

Neat – is it a Y && S or a Y || S module?
