Debugging won't halt

For months netmf & VS were working fine…then a few weeks ago, it suddenly takes minutes (or stalls completely) when I hit the “STOP” button during debug (after previously pressing F5)…instead of stopping, I get the forever spinning circle. I usually have to use task manager to close the program, which is not the way to go…any ideas on what got set to cause this? Also now when I hit F5 it sometimes takes minutes to compile/download the program…before it would take perhaps 15 seconds

Which device? Is this with the same project or have you tried creating a new project and do you get the same result? Have you tried 4.2 QFE2?
