But can it go round corners and say “I’m ready. Are you ready? Let’s go!” in a Jamaican accent
yeah, we had a discussion about that few months ago:
@ Architect - o, missed that one…
Think it has appeared again as they have sped it up some what.
Noel Sharkey’s statement is quite disappointing and unimaginative, though. Chasing enemy soldiers across the desert with a robot isn’t, in fact, a very good use of resources. If one wished to chase an enemy soldier across the desert, wouldn’t, say, a bullet be a better choice than a million-dollar robot?
@ godefroi - not if you wanted them to talk…
Weird comment ‘of course it could kill civilians…’ Who say’s it works autonomously? The obvious approach is to use it as a drone with gun + webcam + human soldier to operate it like bomb defusing robots do.
Finally, some pay-off from all that call of duty/gears of war training.
Mounting a gun on this would be kinda silly. There’s easier ways…
Even more impressive then before. Tip of the hat to these dudes.
This is the company at I work for. Sadly not in the department that does this kind o stuff http://www.govcomm.harris.com/solutions/products/defense/robotics.asp
@ HughB - cool toys - so are you the tea boy then
To work on those toys I would happily be the tea boy . No I’m in the broadcast division. Tv graphics systems and digital signage specifically but we make everything to do with tv except cameras and tv sets
I’m sure you would make a top tea boy…
So are you Flint, Flame or Smoke?
Old school combustion back in the day when flint and flame were SGI based monsters. Used to demo the hell out of combustion too, especially when they put support in for z depth image data (I’m an ex 3ds max guy too). Out of the three my choice would be flame though. I’ve always been into live gfx (news and sports) which is why I work for Harris.
I’m guessing that you must be or have been in the industry as flint flame inferno and smoke are not generally known outside the hallowed walls of production
Classic, Im a Max and combustion ex as well, played a bit with the others a bit as a mate is still in the industry as a flame artist.
It’s a real shame that combustion got shuttered. It had such promise.
I feel like I’ve just accidentally entered a PA (pyromaniacs anonymous) meeting. I have no clue what you guys are talking. I can only imagine what folks would think if they heard this conversation at a Starbucks
Lol it does look a little like that. However these are all Film and TV effects software packages from a company called autodesk.
Throw in Toxic into the Starbucks conversation and they will Think total nutters
@ HughB - I reckon we should make a 1/4 scale FEZ powered RedHawk inspired robot and call it FEZ Hawk…
Dynamixel powered arm, tamiya tank tracks, wifi and bluetooth with a wireless camera run off a tablet - it would be the Ducks Nuts
You could take it into the office show it off become a legend and get promoted to running their Q Branch !
LOL! I about peed myself… Never heard that one before
