It would be functionally the same, except for the OLED driver that will be missing.

Awhile ago GHI found a box of CANxtra boards without enclosures or displays, an had a “clearance sale” on them. These were just the bare boards. I got a couple just because the price was right and was able to update the firmware, so assume they work just fine. caveat - that is a large assumption. No guarantee the board is 100% functional.
They’ve been collecting dust on my bench since then, so I’m happy to sell you one for what I paid: $5. USPS priority shipping to Germany is $17, though. That gets it there in 6-10 business days. Regular first class mail is less but there is no delivery time estimate given.

Help, I’m searching for the “correct” version of TeraTerm to update the TinyBooter on my CANxtra. It was hosted on the tinyclr site, but it seems to be gone.

I have searched a lot in the various threads, read the various readmes and I am still not sure what the answer is to the question of should I update to 4.2 or not. I have several CANxtras, Panda IIs and now G120HDRs. I know the G120HDR requires 4.2. I know the Panda IIs are only supported up to 4.1 (but NETMF 4.2 has support for 4.1 projects). I have seen some indications that CANxtra support has been removed from the 4.2 EMX firmware, but I have also seen that at least one person has updated to 4.2 successfully on a CANxtra.
The project that I have for the CANxtras needs ethernet, OneWire, and the display. I have seen people having some issues with 4.2 and OneWire. So, I am content with staying at 4.1 for them and the Panda IIs. But, I would like to know if that is the way that it will always be and if I install the 4.2 GHI package will I still have access to 4.1 assemblies for Panda II and CANxtra?
You must use 4.2 at this point as we no longer support 4.1. The only exception is if you have a device that is 4.1 only, like CANxtra Panda ChipworkX
@ Frogmore, I interpret Gus’ answer as you must use the 4.2 SDKs and use the 4.1 project capability for your canxtra.

Yes, I installed the Microsoft 4.2 QFE2 package. It still works fine with my 4.1 projects (since I have Panda IIs which I know require it). My question is about the GHI SDK. Currently I have the last 4.1 GHI SDK installed and it works fine with my Panda II (thanks for fixing the issue with Web Request timeouts).
If I install this package (GHI NETMF v4.2 and .NET Gadgeteer Package (10-24-2012)) will I still be able to use the 4.1 stuff with Panda IIs?

Will I still be able to use the display on my CANxtras?
I know that the CANxtra is out of support and I am actually fine if the answer is it only works with 4.1. I do understand the cost of supporting older hardware, when there is lots of new hardware that needs your attention.
you need to install teh 4.2 package and then install 4.1 GHI SDK.
CANxtra is not EMX, it is embedded master. Only 4.1

Sorry for being dense. Let me make sure I understand what you are saying:
- The CANxtra is only supported upto 4.1. This is what I thought I read, so this makes sense.
- I need to install .NET Microframework 4.2 QFE 2 (from Microsoft), which I have done
- I need to install the GHI SDK for 4.2 (so I can use my G120HDR)
- I need to install the GHI SDK for 4.1 (so I can use my Panda IIs and CANxtras)
What I am still not clear on is if I can do #3 and #4 on the same computer and if there is an order dependency, i.e. do #3 and then #4 or the other way around.
install the optional Step 4 (4.1) SDK after you install the 4.2 SDK. Then update your firmware on Canxtra using the 4.1 EMX firmware that still supports the EM/EMX split brain. Then create new 4.1 projects.
@ GHI team, do you know what 4.1 SDK has the firmware that supports EM and EMX ? Is the 4.1 version:
