@ Ralo - i’m still looking but i think you will need to use GHI Legacy Drivers

Also can’t install the legacy drivers from these installation-package.
If I select these, the installer reports “…can’t find the required software…”

Thanks again for your patience, Justin.

Installing VS now…

Righto…

VM9 Workstation running on Win8 x64
XP Pro x86 SP3 DE

After install EMX showed up with ? - Updated the driver and pointed to \GHI Electronics\GHI NETMF USB Driver Set\GHI Legacy Drivers folder and hey presto - all good

Hope this helps…

Mhhh… Congratulations.

But here it doesn’t work.
The installer for the legacy drivers always told me, that he couldn’t find the necessary software.
Now I’m just downloading GHI’s upate again.

As attachement just the content of my \GHI Electronics\GHI NETMF USB Driver Set\GHI Legacy Drivers folder.
Can you confirm ?

May be one more useful information:

My EMX Dev-Board is showing the following message. Is it normal ?

This says the firmware has not been loaded. Redo the firmware installation.

@ Ralo - Yes that is the folder - as Mike said - reflash the module - go to device manager, if you have a big yellow question mark on the EMX right click, update driver, select i have a disk and point to that folder.

Hi all,

don’t know what is going wrong here. Ok - I’ve installed the firmware again. Now the display is showing

EMX
Version: 4.2.5.0
Debug: USB1
LCD: 320x240
Waiting for debug commands.

But installing USB-Driver doesn’t work. Same as before. Can you please proceed, that there are only the files, I’ve posted in a screenshot in message #25 ?
The installer says “Hardware installation not possible” (because he couldn’t find the required software). I’ve translated the message, because here it’s displayed in german. Which software does the driver missing ?

I am going home now and hope to have some new ideas till tomorrow.

bye
Ralf, your today’s newbie ;-(

@ Ralo - Ralf, did you open device manager and try updating the driver there?

Yes. Where else ?

One very last information for today:
in c:\windows\setupapi.txt I’ve just found following information:

This was logged from the installer, before he fails.
any ideas ?

good night
Ralf

@ Ralo - if no joy happy to do a webinar tomorrow if that helps.

Good mornig @ Justin,

you are spending so much time for my problem…

Going deeper and deeper into details, I saw following Information in device-manager (right-click the “EMX ?”-Device, than “Details”)
USB\VID_1B9F&PID_0106\7&C6E4ACC&0&1

But in my GHI_NETMF_Interface.inf File (the legacy driver) I’ve found the line
%USB\vid_1B9F&Pid_0102.DeviceDesc%=OEM_Inst,USB\vid_1B9F&Pid_0102

I am wondering about the different PID’s. In my last posting, you’ll see that my OS is searching for a PID_106 device.

Any idea ? Can you please compare at your PC ?

If you like, we can try a remote maintenance by teamviewer.
As very last solution I think about to create a total new OS-Image … :frowning:

Regards
Ralf

@ Ralo - I will be in the office in about an hour, tv or we use gotomeeting.
Send me an email to Justin dot Wilson at eprint dot net

@ JUSTIN
!!! Success !!!
I’ve changed all _0102 behaviours in my GHI_NETMF_Interface.INF file to _0106 (search and replace).
Then the driver is accepted and everything seems to run.

@ GUS
It seems to be a general mistake in your legacy driver for my EMX Board (?)
Or is my board reportig a wrong PID ?

regards
Ralf

@ Justin: Many many thanks again for all your support !!
