VM9 Workstation running on Win8 x64
XP Pro x86 SP3 DE
After install EMX showed up with ? - Updated the driver and pointed to \GHI Electronics\GHI NETMF USB Driver Set\GHI Legacy Drivers folder and hey presto - all good
But here it doesn’t work.
The installer for the legacy drivers always told me, that he couldn’t find the necessary software.
Now I’m just downloading GHI’s upate again.
As attachement just the content of my \GHI Electronics\GHI NETMF USB Driver Set\GHI Legacy Drivers folder.
Can you confirm ?
@ Ralo - Yes that is the folder - as Mike said - reflash the module - go to device manager, if you have a big yellow question mark on the EMX right click, update driver, select i have a disk and point to that folder.
But installing USB-Driver doesn’t work. Same as before. Can you please proceed, that there are only the files, I’ve posted in a screenshot in message #25 ?
The installer says “Hardware installation not possible” (because he couldn’t find the required software). I’ve translated the message, because here it’s displayed in german. Which software does the driver missing ?
I am going home now and hope to have some new ideas till tomorrow.
One very last information for today:
in c:\windows\setupapi.txt I’ve just found following information:
[quote]#I060 Set selected driver. #-019 Searching for hardware ID(s): usb\vid_1b9f&pid_0106&rev_0100,usb\vid_1b9f&pid_0106 #-018 Searching for compatible ID(s): usb\class_ff&subclass_01&prot_01,usb\class_ff&subclass_01,usb\class_ff #-019 Searching for hardware ID(s): usb\vid_1b9f&pid_0106&rev_0100,usb\vid_1b9f&pid_0106 #-018 Searching for compatible ID(s): usb\class_ff&subclass_01&prot_01,usb\class_ff&subclass_01,usb\class_ff #-166 Device install function: DIF_SELECTBESTCOMPATDRV. #W059 Selecting best compatible driver failed. Error 0xe0000228: Es sind keine kompatiblen Treiber für dieses Gerät vorhanden. #W157 Default installer failed. Error 0xe0000228: Es sind keine kompatiblen Treiber für dieses Gerät vorhanden.

This was logged from the installer, before he fails.
any ideas ?
Going deeper and deeper into details, I saw following Information in device-manager (right-click the “EMX ?”-Device, than “Details”)
USB\VID_1B9F&PID_0106\7&C6E4ACC&0&1
But in my GHI_NETMF_Interface.inf File (the legacy driver) I’ve found the line
%USB\vid_1B9F&Pid_0102.DeviceDesc%=OEM_Inst,USB\vid_1B9F&Pid_0102
I am wondering about the different PID’s. In my last posting, you’ll see that my OS is searching for a PID_106 device.
Any idea ? Can you please compare at your PC ?
If you like, we can try a remote maintenance by teamviewer.
As very last solution I think about to create a total new OS-Image …
@ JUSTIN
!!! Success !!!
I’ve changed all _0102 behaviours in my GHI_NETMF_Interface.INF file to _0106 (search and replace).
Then the driver is accepted and everything seems to run.
@ GUS
It seems to be a general mistake in your legacy driver for my EMX Board (?)
Or is my board reportig a wrong PID ?
