Luckily, what this really means is that there is a multiplicity of suppliers and of modules that can run your Linux-based solutions, which gives you hw choices and supplier safety nets.
I personally prefer, and would pay a reasonable premium, for nearby folks with the ability to do custom engineering (ala GHI) than larger-scale off-shore companies with a take-it-or-leave-it product line. Other folks will have other equations for success (e.g., more price-driven).
