Wifi RN-XV module

I’ve inherited two of this modules from a friend and I’m working on them.
Mostly, they are working fine though U socket serial port using XBee board . I just have a strange problem on WPA/WPA2 wifi net. When I setup to join a WPA wifi, modules reset themselves. This on happen with 3 different brand access point (Cisco, Nilox, D-link) and on both modules. If I set WEP security everything works fine … The RN-XV fw is 2.32
Anyone working with this things ?

While USB specifications say ports should provide 500mA, we rarely see a port that can actually provide 500mA. We always recommend the use of powered hubs or a power pack instead of relying on the USB power. Use a powered hub from a known brand, not a cheap hub. If your device has the option of using a power pack (for example the USB Client DP Module) then you can use a power pack instead. 9V 1A is typically recommended but check the bottom of the circuit board for printed voltage range. All power connectors on GHI products are 2.1mm with positive on the inside and negative on the outer ring.

Not using a powered hub or power pack can cause:
[ul]Unexplained behavior
Device does not function
Device functions intermittently
Device functions but network fails
Device functions but SD card fails
Device functions but firmware update fails[/ul]

I’m sorry GUS, but I give it enough power with external power supply. The problem exists also when I attach the module to PC. It is a WPA problem, but I can’t find info about that.

was worth the shot

@ dobova - I did have a similar issue, which lead me to put down the RN-XV and move on to other projects. Start with a firmware update (on the RN-XV). You will probably need to go through Roving Networks support to get a resolution. Something else to note - they’ve been recently bought. http://www.microchip.com/pagehandler/en-us/press-release/microchip-acquires-roving-netw.html

@ ransomhall - Thank you guys, but I’ve last fw on board. This is an interesting module and I will use WEP until I will find some support from RN or Microchip. Strange enough nobody seems to face the problem, but if I got it correctly also you had troubles.
