Where to debug print to?

a lot of gadgeteer code has code like

Debug.Print(“Network is Up”);

but i understand the code is transferred to the ie fez spider and runs there alone without communication with vs2010 , like code running in windows or iis .

where is the debug print going to be displayed ? on the ts 35 ?

vS output window

but on debugging the code is transferred to the spider. i only see output until vs transfers the program to the spider.

If the VS debugger is not attached, it is not displayed anywhere

Are you doing debug or deploy?

i just do the debug like a normal program F5. i have a relaese option no deploy option .

out put gives this :

a lot o library transfers and then

The debugging target runtime is loading the application assemblies and starting execution.

@ wetlip - what code are you running?

indeed when i hit F5 or start button debug i get a very short time in the output window deploying… and then the normal debug info above

where is that to be changed ?

this to test the jd11d .

a lot of debug.print , but how to get it in vs ?
my t35 screen has as info debug:usb1

namespace ipaddress
{
     public partial class Program
     {

void ProgramStarted()

    {     Debug.Print("Program Started");

           // ethernet.UseDHCP();
            ethernet.NetworkUp += new GTM.Module.NetworkModule.NetworkEventHandler(ethernet_NetworkUp);
            ethernet.NetworkDown += new GTM.Module.NetworkModule.NetworkEventHandler(ethernet_NetworkDown);

        void ethernet_NetworkDown(GTM.Module.NetworkModule sender, GTM.Module.NetworkModule.NetworkState state)

The Debug.Print output will show up where all those .dll messages you posted are. Those dll loaded message are normal and a part of the debugging process.

I would suggest that once you device starts up, hit the clear button in the debug section. You can also put break points in your code to ensure that those lines are actually executed.

Not sure what that means. You need to build in debug mode and then use F5 to debug. You should see all your debug.print stuff in the Visual Studio output window.

Pete

i get this from output Micro Framework device Deploment

Incrementally deploying assemblies to device
Deploying assemblies for a total size of 265740 bytes
Assemblies successfully deployed to device.

i changed the projekt of the startesguide spider with two debug lines "camera takes picture " and “picture displayed” but no debug info in output window vs201’.

it must be a setting in the ide.

You did press the button, right?

i am one step further adding a breakpoint at the end } of void button_ButtonPressed it is hit while pressing button attached to spider, but no debug info in output window vs2010

 void button_ButtonPressed(Button sender , Button.ButtonState state)
      {

          camera.TakePicture();
          Debug.Print("camera takes picture");

      }

That is weird. Try to restart Visual Studio and replug your device.

it is the sameafter restarting these are my debug settings. nowhere something like “show code generated debug messages” , i use 2010 profesional

and after checking, normal not micro framework solutions dont either, in vs 2012 beta either , i will ask in th vs2010 ide forums. i have subversion installed as plugin.

How did you get these?

solution

in menu vs2010 tools debugging general : i had checked debug info to immediate window. unchecking it gives al debug.prints in output window. i must say i have never used debug print until now, i always use breakpoints to examine the code
