Up Board?

News to me.

Don’t get too excited…given that the board is driven by an Atom processor, this is required reading:

:frowning:

Yeah, that’s a dilemma I faced when trying to choose a compact PC recently. I really wanted to try one of the PC sticks, like Intel’s Compute Stick or Lenovo’s version, but the combination of the Atom processor and the tiny RAM and storage made it a no-go for me.

Ended up with an Intel NUC with a Skylake i3 processor, which beats the crap out of any Atom out there (and was about $200 cheaper than a comparable NUC with i5). Granted, with the 16GB of RAM and a 120GB M.2 SSD, the cost for the NUC was about 3-4x what I’d pay for a compute stick, but I’m very happy with the NUC, which I doubt I’d be able to say for the compute stick.

So yeah, not really sad that the Atom line is going away. Especially since the Core M processors arguably offer some of the more important benefits of the Atom (fanless design, for example) while offering better perf.
