The BrainPad has arrived!

Yeah, I should have made it clear that I was working with prototype hardware. Now I’ll miss out on my beer hug.

I realize this is a prototype and I just saw your other post saying that the FTDI Click module was the answer. However, given that module is $29 (probably more than the cost of the BrainPad…) I don’t think that’s a good solution considering the target age group for Scratch. I really hope you all can figure out how to make it work using the USB debug port.

@ ianlee74 - I bet it is not hard for ghi to make the same module for half price or add ftdi on the board.

This is part of the community effort, it is in the provided feedback.

And to that argument, why add something on the board that will add cost and is only used by 10% or less of the end users?

… This is all a work on progress so please keep the feedback coming.

Is allowing the usb port to be repurposed a hardware-and-software or software-only change? Certainly from a usability standpoint, that would be the best solution IMHO.

@ mcalsyn - all options are on the table

Gus is saying it’s a software issue and he has the smart team looking at it. Sorry, not sure if everyone has the same filter to apply to Gus-isms  .

@ Brett - thanks for translating  I have been burned many times so I learned not to give a straight answer but I ALWAYS hint the answer
