Hi,

I’m a newbie to these Small chips and platforms.

What will be my least expensive way of getting one of these platforms and a touch TFT display?

I don’t want to spend $300 on the EMX Developer board as I am only going to tinker around with it, at least to start with.

Small chips and TFT display can’t coexist! TFT displays require powerful processors and a LOT or RAM.

Look at this serial TFT display for example, http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=8626
It is $180 and doesn’t do anything for you beside some simple graphics!!!

Your options are:

  1. connect one of those expensive displays to FEZ Domino (highly not recommended)
  2. get the EMX development system (great board but it is made for professionals)
  3. wait till FEZ Cobra is out. You can use FEZ Mini or FEZ Domino for now as they both share the same everything except Cobra has a lot more RAM and support TFT displays.

With whatever option you select, it will not be cheap. TFT displays are expensive and they require power system to work them :wink:

What will the new Cobra & TFT cost or will there be various bundle deals?

Can you give me in the ball park range?
