Suggestion for ALCAM

ALCAM
Only my opinion.

ALCAM J - Read Status and Configuration
Missing two important Get commands:

  1. J (something) Get Bit_Field 2 - SD Card Detect
  2. J (something) Get Bit_Field 13 - USB Detected

It would be nice to know if either or both are available before trying to use them!

Nice to have would be:
A J command that returns a binary string of the current state.
One command that could be masked by user to find what is wanted.

And a general question:

Bit 5 shows 1 (Reserved pin) Why?
All other reserved pins show 0…

Bit 2 and 13 will tell you status of SD/USB. What does “missing” mean?

Used internally

@ Dat -
What does “missing” mean?

To me it means not available as a direct command.
Sorry, I thought it was a simple request.
(You guys asked for input)

I think dat is saying they are there but you said there are missing so what do you mean?

@ Gus -

Not sure how to reply.
I would like to see a direct command added to the J commands that will reply with USB and SD are available or not.

J now has (Manual page 45)

COMMAND SYNTAX Command Synopsis
J Query ALCAM for current settings and storage device status
J S Get frame/image size.
J B Get brightness level.
J O Get contrast level.
J A Get white balance setting.
J E Get special effect setting.
J H Get level of sharpness.
J M Get mirror/flipping setting.
J T Get saturation value.
J Z Get zoom levels.

Using just the J command does not always show the immediate state for bits 2 and 13.
My understanding is that the Status register only shows what changes?

On boot up with no SD or USB media loaded all I see is that bit 1 = 0 SD Card Initialized 0: no, 1: yes
Nothing about the state of USB.

No a issue for me… Just thought the commands would be useful…

We will take a note for the next update.
