Stupid Newbie Question: wiring up a power pack

I’m planning on powering both the Spider and L298 module on my vehicle with a 9.6V R/C battery pack. I’ve attached an outline of how I plan to do it; note the lack of diodes, resistors, etc. I’m not much of an analog circuitry guy but I do know that supplying power without regulating current is a great way to destroy expensive ICs and an 8 cell battery pack can supply quite a bit of juice when it wants to. Do I need to worry about anything here or are the DP and L298 both robust enough to keep from frying themselves? The motors each have a 2.5A stall current at 7.2V but the payload is relatively light so I’m not too worried about them drawing more than an amp or so.

Looks right to me. The L298 can pass along up to 3A and all the voltages are within their ranges. Looking forward to a video.

Good to know, thanks. I was worried that GHI might have made some assumptions about how we might be powering these i.e. a bench supply or small battery.
