Hmm, I have a few devices that I am not sure are genuine FTDI serial chips inside, and I am nervous bringing those devices into the field as some users might have evil drivers on their computers.
Personally I am using an old driver that works, but the situation is annoying.
Anyone having any status on this situation?
@ njbuch - Last I had heard, FTDI withdrew the driver update that bricked devices. Don’t have a source for that handy, at the moment, but that’s my recollection.

As @ andre.m notes, however, it’s probably impossible to be sure that a given machine does not have the problematic driver.
