Questions about FEZ Config

It seems from this:

that FEZ Config can ONLY update the firmware NOT the loader, is this true?

That same doc also warns that the loader MUST be updated before the firmware so this raises some questions:

  1. Can one ever just update firmware and leave the loader as is?
  2. If I installed a new version of SDK and needed to update a mainboard, could I just use FEZ Config and trust it to update the loader and firmware (in that order) nice n simply or must one go through separate steps to fully update a board?
  3. If its true (FEZ Config cant update loader) then why can’t it? would it not be easier to have the tool do both steps?

The loader update is hiding in the menu (top left), there you can see which boards you can do the loader update for.
