Got my BrainPad a week or so ago and worked through setting it up with the latest Scratch versions, which wasn’t difficult. Actually [em]coding[/em] it by dragging and dropping Scratch elements just seemed too easy.
Now to unleash its potential on the kids to see where their imagination will take them. I’ll keep you posted.
I was tryi9ng to set mine up tonight, but windows cant find a driver for the deploy/debug port. It comes up as “unknown device” and is unable to find a working driver, no matter what I do. Ive uninstalled netMf, the gadgeteer core, and the SDK, and reinstalled them to no avail.
I just followed the youtube video from from @ mcalsyn
It all worked after a power cycle or two. I’m not running the very latest SDK (I don’t think) and my Scratch isn’t the latest since my x64 machine won’t install it correctly.
Ohhh, I found the problem. The micro usb connector on the brainpad was half detached. If I pressed down on it, the driver would load. I got it to work for a few seconds, before the entire micro usb connector came off
I have an Olimex A20 where the USB connector did the same. I’ve now checked any board that has SMD USB to make sure the pads on the body are soldered properly. Non lead solders don’t flow as well as the old lead solders so I have seen these pads to be a little on the light side so I grab my soldering iron and beef them up with additional solder. One of my Cerbuino Bee boards needed this.
